What RiffRoc Is For
RiffRoc is a place for interactive stories — adventures that branch, surprise, and invite readers to help shape what happens next.
We welcome a wide range of genres and creative styles: fantasy, romantasy, thriller, horror, adventure, comedy, mystery, heartbreak, and emotionally complex storytelling. Stories can include danger, conflict, suspense, flawed characters, difficult choices, and dark turns. Bold, imaginative narratives are what this platform is built for.
These guidelines exist to protect that creative space while keeping RiffRoc safe, respectful, and trustworthy for everyone who uses it. They draw a line between storytelling that explores the full range of imagination and content or conduct that creates real-world harm.
These guidelines apply to everyone who uses RiffRoc — creators, readers, and anyone who participates in story rooms, sharing, branching, or other community features.
RiffRoc accounts are for users 13 and older. Adults may use RiffRoc with younger children through an adult account, but children under 13 may not create accounts or provide personal information directly to RiffRoc.
For Everyone — The Basics
Be who you are. Create accounts using accurate information. Don't impersonate other users, real people, or public figures in ways that are misleading or harmful.
Be careful with real people as characters. Don't use RiffRoc to impersonate, defame, sexualize, harass, or create misleading content about real identifiable people without appropriate rights or consent. This applies across story text, illustrations, Bursts, and any other content type on the platform.
Respect other users. Disagreement is fine. Harassment, threats, stalking, bullying, and targeted personal attacks are not. Story rooms and community features are for creative conversation, not conflict.
Keep others' private information private. Don't share personal details about other users or real individuals — addresses, phone numbers, private photos, or anything else they haven't chosen to make public.
Don't use RiffRoc to break the law. Content that facilitates real-world illegal activity isn't fiction — it's harmful regardless of the creative framing around it.
Respect the platform. Don't attempt to scrape content, reverse engineer the app, circumvent moderation or access controls, or abuse the generation system through automated or unauthorized means.
For Creators — What You're Responsible For
When you create a story on RiffRoc, you guide the creative direction. You set the parameters, make the choices, and shape the world the AI generates from. That creative authority comes with responsibility for what you put into the platform and what you make available to others.
You are responsible for your creative choices. You are responsible for the prompts, settings, reference materials, and choices you provide, and for deciding what to publish or share. Do not intentionally steer the AI toward prohibited content or use unexpected outputs to bypass these guidelines.
Reference images you upload are your responsibility. If you upload a photo to inform AI image generation, make sure you have the right to use it. Don't upload photos of other people without their knowledge and consent — those images are transmitted to AI providers as part of the generation process.
Public stories may reach a wide audience. When you make a story public, any RiffRoc user can read it, explore it, and branch from it. Apply the same judgment to public stories that you would to anything you publish under your name.
Bursts represent your story where available. AI-generated video content derived from your story is subject to the same standards as the story itself. Don't use Burst generation to create video content that depicts or could be mistaken for a real identifiable person without their consent.
For Readers — How to Engage
Explore freely. Reading, branching, and exploring other creators' stories is what RiffRoc is built for. Follow paths, make choices, see where the story goes.
Participate respectfully in story rooms. Chat and comment features are for discussing and enjoying stories together. Keep it constructive. Personal attacks, harassment, and off-topic provocation aren't part of the creative experience.
Branch with the story in mind. When you explore a branch of a public story, you're participating in someone else's creative work. The branches you trigger become part of that story for everyone who reads it after you.
What's Not Allowed
RiffRoc supports creative freedom across a wide range of themes and subject matter. The following content is prohibited regardless of how it's framed — fictional context does not change these limits. This list describes categories of harm rather than an exhaustive inventory of every prohibited scenario. RiffRoc may remove content or restrict accounts when we believe content or conduct creates legal, safety, or community risk, even if a specific scenario isn't named here.
Mature romantic themes involving adult characters may be allowed in private stories or age-appropriate contexts, but sexually explicit content is not allowed in public or community-facing areas.
Child sexual exploitation. Any sexual content depicting minors in any form — including fictional, illustrated, or AI-generated depictions — grooming, or sexual extortion involving minors. No exceptions.
Non-consensual sexual content. Sexual content depicting real individuals without their consent, intimate imagery shared without consent, or any form of sexual extortion.
Sexually explicit content. Explicit sexual content in public stories, story rooms, Bursts, images, or other community-facing areas of the platform. RiffRoc is a 13+ platform and public content must be appropriate for that audience.
Real threats and targeted harassment. Threats of real-world violence or harm directed at specific individuals, stalking, doxxing, or sustained harassment campaigns targeting real people.
Hate and dehumanization. Content that dehumanizes people or incites violence or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics. Villains can hold hateful views — content that exists to spread those views is different.
Self-harm promotion. Content that glorifies, encourages, or instructs self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or other dangerous behaviors. Difficult themes involving these subjects can be explored thoughtfully — promotion and glorification cannot.
Real-world violence and extremism. Content that promotes, glorifies, or provides operational support for terrorism, mass violence, or extremist movements.
Deepfakes and non-consensual synthetic media. AI-generated video, images, or other content that depicts a real identifiable person in a misleading, harmful, or defamatory way without their consent.
Rights violations. Don't use RiffRoc to infringe someone else's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights. This includes uploading reference images, characters, story material, or other content you don't have the right to use, and generating AI content that reproduces or closely imitates protected creative work.
Platform abuse. Spam, scams, fake engagement, ban evasion, automated content submission, scraping, circumventing moderation, reverse engineering the app, or any attempt to manipulate the generation system through unauthorized means.
Moderation and Enforcement
RiffRoc uses automated moderation systems to help detect and limit prohibited content before generation, publication, or display. We may also use manual review when content is reported, when safety concerns arise, or when review is needed to enforce these guidelines or our Terms of Use.
No moderation system catches everything. If you encounter content that may violate these guidelines, please use the reporting tools available in the app or contact us at [email protected].
When content or conduct violates these guidelines, we may remove the content, restrict its visibility, limit features, suspend or terminate the account responsible, or take other action we determine is appropriate. In cases involving illegal content — particularly content involving exploitation of minors — we may report to appropriate authorities.
If you believe we made a mistake, contact us at [email protected] and ask us to review the decision. We'll review the concern in good faith.
Our enforcement process will evolve as the platform grows, but our commitment to taking reports seriously and acting on genuine safety concerns will not change.
A Note on Creative Freedom
RiffRoc is built for creative exploration. Dark fantasy, suspense, heartbreak, danger, difficult choices, flawed characters, and morally complex stories are welcome here.
These guidelines are not meant to make stories bland or cautious. They are meant to keep RiffRoc trustworthy — a place where creators can explore bold ideas without the platform being used to exploit, harass, impersonate, or harm real people.
Most stories belong here. The limits are focused on the categories that create real-world safety, legal, privacy, or community risk. If you are unsure whether something belongs on RiffRoc, consider whether it targets, exploits, impersonates, or endangers real people. When in doubt, keep the story fictional and respectful of real individuals.
RiffRoc welcomes bold storytelling — not real-world harm.
